My neighbour has mentioned Lighthouse, but what is it?

Lighthouse Thame is a 5 day holiday club for children and young people, run by local churches. There will be approximately 750 spaces each day for toddlers, primary age children and young people, to come along and take part in sport, craft, and drama, learn about Christianity and have lots of FUN. Lighthouse holiday weeks have been taking place across the region since 1987 attracting thousands of children.

Can I send my children every day?

Why not, I would! - We have 750 spaces available each day, and they get filled up fast! If you want to come along you need to register to book a space. You can either book online, or booking forms will be made available in The Well, which is the new Cafe at the top of Wellington Street in Thame or by contacting Ulrike Kibble at admin@lighthousethame.org.uk

Can I come?

Yes. There is something for everyone.

  • Parents and toddlers are invited to attend a session from 10.15 till 12.30
  • 4 year olds can come for an action packed morning 10.00am till 1.00pm
  • 5 to 11 year olds can come every day from 10 am to 3.30 pm
  • 12 + (year 7) can spend the day not only having fun but learning how to be a “lamplighter” in TZONE and get to join in the evening events.
  • 13+ (year 8) help with the children during the day (under adult supervision) and have their reward in the evenings, with events for teenagers at Halo:Gen.
  • There is also a café area, open at drop off and pick up times, where parents can relax, enjoy the weather and refreshments.

Who are the staff?

All helpers, in any capacity, are volunteering their time to make this event happen and have a wealth of experience of working with children in schools, professional work, church work, relevant job experience and much more.

How much will it cost?

Lighthouse Thame is run entirely by volunteers, and we raise money from grant organisations, fundraising, and rely heavily on donations from local churches; yet there is still a financial shortfall.

To help cover the costs suggested giving is around £9 per child per day (£45 per week) but, all children are welcomeand please only give what you are able.

Lighthouse Thame in 2009 cost £33,000 to run, but some of this was subsidised by support from local churcheslook out for the Lighthouse Thame Gift Envelope for your opportunity to give.
